CorFlux
We are developing a software
for estimation of the risk for
aortic aneurysm rupture
CorFlux aims to be the world’s leading analyzing software for estimation of the risk for aortic aneurysm rupture.
CorFlux
Building a better future for patients with aortic aneurysm
CorFlux project is funded by Business Finland and University of Eastern Finland and aims to be standard model in clinical assessment of Aortic Aneurysm (AA) rupture risk, create strong technological product development and develop a business model suitable for investors. Commercialization goal is to create new business in Finland, do collaboration with other Finnish service and technology companies, enable international research and capital funding and create new health technology jobs in Finland.
The diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of aortic aneurysms cause significant costs for worldwide healthcare systems and economies. CorFlux analysis is a completely new approach for assessing the criticality of aortic aneurysms. The analysis will enable healthcare professionals to make decisions related to the treatment of aortic aneurysm patients much more accurately than the current practice.
The current clinical method of the evaluation of the vulnerability of aortic aneurysm does not take account other influencing elements than aortic diameter. However, a high number of aortic ruptures (>30%) appear before the diameter reaches limit for surgery. These patients’ lives may be saved.
In addition, because there is no efficient method to evaluate the criticality of aortic aneurysm, all aneurysm patients are sent to repeated imaging follow up. However, only a small part of the aortic aneurysms develop critically during lifetime, leading to a high number of unnecessary follow-up imaging. This leads to a yearly 3B€ worldwide cost burden to the healthcare system. CorFlux analysis reduces the need for unnecessary follow-up imaging, thus releasing limited imaging resources in hospitals for other purposes. Based on our calculations CorFlux can decrease the aortic aneurysm-related healthcare costs by up to 80%.
CorFlux offers hospitals an advanced aortic aneurysm rupture risk analysis solution. This serves as a decision-making support system for physicians, simplifying the identification of high-risk aneurysm patients more easily.
CorFlux aortic aneurysm rupture risk analysis has three main benefits compared to the clinical method used today:
Potential of up to 30% of lives saved through early detection and proactive intervention.
2) Possibility to lower the related healthcare costs with potential savings of up to 80%.
